USAID-Guatemala has issued a request for applications (for the Implementation of the Public-private Alliances Program to support development objectives of USAID/Missions under the Central America and Mexico (CAM) Regional Strategy. Guatemala is a lower middle-income country with a per capita income of $2,700 but this figure masks extreme inequalities between rural and urban, indigenous and non-indigenous populations that reflect the government's historically low investment in the social sector. Approximately 51% of the 13 million people live in poverty and 21% are extremely poor.
